This was a busy week, but I start off explaining some more things around my reaction article on the Wall Street Journals piece of Google Search. I then cite a new tweet from Matt Cutts on a similar topic. Google had an algorithm update over the weekend but the tremors are being felt all week long. Bing has been using BERT for a while and it now is used on all queries, globally. Google had a bug with a new meta tag that caused pages to be removed from the index. Google Search Console added product result filters to the performance report. Google rich results testing tool now previews what recipes can look like on the Google Home Hub. Google lost image click data in Search Console between November 14 and 19th. GoogleBot won’t crawl Google Analytics and many ad scripts. Google has a work around for removing content using the URL Inspection tool. Google Ads has limited what you can do with political ads. Google Ads is testing a new car rental extension. Microsoft launched the new Microsoft Advertising Editor. Google My Business may be doing its own booking engine. Google dictionary results now show photos for some definitions. I released two vlogs this week, one of Frederic Dubut from Bing and one with John Mueller of Google – both were interesting and fun. That was this past week in search at the Search Engine Roundtable.
